About

About Find a Class

A place to find classes in the Netherlands for children, and for grown-ups too, made by parents who needed one.

Who we are

We are a small group of IT people living in the Netherlands, most of us in and around The Hague. We are also parents, with children at Dutch and international schools, and we came here from other countries ourselves.

Why it was hard

When our children wanted to swim, dance, play football or learn an instrument, finding the right class took weeks. The information was spread over thousands of websites of schools, clubs and teachers. Many were only in Dutch, many never showed up in a search, and small schools rarely have time for marketing. Nothing brought it together, let alone in English or Chinese.

What we built

Find a Class started as a list for our own families. Every class shows the day, time, age and price, with the line from the school’s own page and the date we last checked it. You can read everything in English, Dutch or Chinese, and translations are always labelled, with a button to see the original.

What we promise

  • Nobody can pay for a higher place.
  • Every class shows where the information comes from and when we last checked it.
  • Translations are always labelled, with the original one tap away.
  • When something is wrong, we fix it.

How you can help

Spotted a mistake, or a class that is missing? Report it on the class or school page, no account needed, or write to info@hokimi.com. We check it against the school’s own website and fix the page. And if the site helps you, you can buy us a coffee: it costs about €150 a month to keep it running.

How results are ordered

  1. Only classes that match everything you picked. Classes that don’t list the age, day or time you asked for appear only when you choose to see them, after the ones that match, and say so.
  2. With words typed: classes whose title or school name holds more of them first.
  3. One class per school before a second one from the same school.
  4. When you gave a place (a town, postcode or your location): the schools nearest to it first, within each activity.
  5. Then classes that list a day and time, and classes we checked in the last 30 days.
  6. Then distance to the centre of the city or region.
  7. A school that manages its page, or has photos, gets no higher place.

Nobody can pay for a higher place. A paid highlight, if we ever add one, will say “Promoted”.

Translations

Every text keeps its original language. When you read it in another language it is a machine translation, labelled as such, with a button to show the original. Prices, days and times are stored as data, so translation never changes them.

Your data

No account needed, no advertising cookies, and statistics only if you say yes. A report keeps only what you type, without e-mail addresses or phone numbers.
